CONTRARY TO MY SUSPECTS, 2001, digital video, 13:00 minutes

Contrary To My Suspects is a Haiku fighting with its own structure. The film is caught in a battle against time while trying to gain control over an irreversible situation. Though the sequencing of images suggests a linear temporal development, it becomes apparent that the films’ three sections do not resolve into a coherent story line. Rather the piece translates as an experienced aftermath. Here people, places, and objects are placed into a distant consciousness where absence, followed by acceptance, surfaces with a discomforting heaviness.
